Gregory KATZ is associate professor at the ESSEC Institute of Health Management, ESSEC Business School (Paris-Singapore). He is chaired professor of the ESSEC-sanofi-aventis Chair in Therapeutic Innovation. He teaches business ethics, leadership and innovation management in health industries. Gregory Katz holds a Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD), a Doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PharmD) and a MBA. His publications focus on the socio-economic challenges of biomedicine (human genome patentability, stem cell biobanks, impact of genetic tests on public health). He published The Cipher of Life: Reconciling Genetics & Humanism (Editions du Seuil, 2002; best philosophical essay selected by Fnac in 2003). He was a visiting professor at INSEAD in 2004 (Singapore) and at Bocconi SDA University in 2006 (Milan). He is also a member of a number of journal editorial boards including Philosophy of Management and the International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing. He was co-founder and vice-president of Eurocord, an international platform specialised in clinical research on umbilical cord blood stem cells. He regularly advises companies and public organisations in the health industry, as well as energy, sports and civil engineering sectors. In 2008, he received the San Benedetto Prize awarded by the Fondazione Sublacense for his work on bioethics and humanism. He was auditioned by the French Conseil d'Etat and the Sénat for the revision of the bioethics laws. He is presently director of the Fondation d'entreprise Générale de Santé, a not-for-profit initiative promoting health care innovation and humanitarian initiatives. In 2009, the Fondation received the Grande Cause Nationale label issued by the French Prime Minister.
